With the starter package, you get a strong base to build on, meeting the needs of most small and medium-sized Danish businesses. The package draws on our experience from numerous projects, where we have acted as ERP lead for the implementation of Business Central, either as a supplier or external project manager.
The starter package is for you if you want to start from a fixed point of departure ‒ a ready-to-run standard ERP solution ‒ so you avoid starting your ERP project with a blank slate. Depending on your business' needs, a standard ERP solution may meet 10-90% of those needs before the ERP project has even begun. This makes the journey towards a 100% complete solution considerably easier.
In short, we lay a solid foundation quickly and efficiently, so we can move forward with the rest of your ideal ERP solution.
We can help if your business …
- wants a standardised ERP system with automated core processes
- is facing a digital transformation of finance and needs IT support, because you have outgrown basic accounting systems such as e-conomic ‒ for example due to increased reporting requirements involving dimensions, consolidation etc. ‒ or because you need a module to handle inventory, projects, subscriptions or similar. Or perhaps because you want to move from a legacy ERP system to a modern cloud-based platform.
Whatever need is making you consider a Business Central ERP implementation, the starter package is for your business.
A project plan tailored to your specific needs
But before we dive into what you can specifically look forward to with the starter package, let us take a closer look at the project methodology and approach to your ERP project that precedes the implementation.
Our project plan is the cornerstone of the entire change project. It is structured in such a way that it always strives to ensure the right individuals are involved at the right stages, and that the direction and quality are clear from the very start of the project.
When implementing Business Central, we do so based on our Change Model, which is designed to help our clients carry out the desired changes in the most effective way, with a long-term and sustainable embedding.
Even though this is a standardised package, it is of crucial importance to us that the project and solutions are tailored to the specific needs of your business. Perhaps there needs to be a particular focus on procurement and logistics processes, or perhaps you require differentiated VAT and customisation of VAT reconciliation. Or something else entirely. Whatever your needs may be, we work together to ensure they are factored into the project from the very beginning.
If you do not have the internal resources to drive and follow up on the project, we can allocate a full- or part-time resource in the form of one of our ERP consultants, based on-site with you. This way, we ensure that everything is carried out in accordance with the needs we have jointly identified and defined as essential to a successful project.
You get finance-specialist ERP consultants as your business partner
By choosing our starter package, you get support from ERP consultants with a background in finance combined with experience from ERP and process optimisation projects. And it is precisely this professional combination that has shaped our ready-to-go Business Central solution, which stands out with, among other things, a particular focus on governance. Because we know how important it is to know and understand the core financial processes for a successful ERP project.
The reason our starter package is built on Business Central is that we see it as the dominant ERP system of the future in Denmark.
With Business Central, you get a widely used system that is scalable, has a rapidly growing app market with specialised solutions and can handle additional complexity at a later stage, should you need it. The starter package thus gives you a strong foundation to build on, where our skilled ERP consultants have done all the groundwork, so you can let your ERP project focus on everything that makes up the core and is unique to your business.
What does the starter package actually include?
With our standard solution for Business Central, you get your ERP project off the ground and ensure that you don't spend unnecessary time and mental energy on standard setup.
Concretely, you gain five benefits, which you can read about below.
1. An ERP project with a standard system, typically set up within two weeks
With our starter package, you can quickly implement a complete, ready-to-run ERP solution that includes the setup of the vast majority of modules and over 100 configuration tables.
The starter package has a strong focus on the needs we know from our work in the finance function, meaning that from the outset you are, among other things, ready to:
- post entries across finance, sales and purchasing etc.
- use modules such as the fixed assets, inventory and project modules
- perform basic consolidation and eliminate intercompany trading.
2. Installation and setup of hand-picked add-on products
We have hand-picked the add-on products that we have found to be the best on the market for addressing the most common needs of small and medium-sized businesses. They therefore form a central part of our recommended setup of Business Central.
The add-on products have been selected based on criteria such as: independence, market adoption, level of documentation, ongoing development and support. They are relevant to most businesses, but if any add-on products are not relevant to you, you can opt out of them during a process workshop. In the same session, you can work with us to evaluate alternative solutions if you have a non-standard requirement.
This means that from the outset you are, among other things, ready to:
- efficiently manage incoming documents via an invoice management system
- send documents for approval across the organisation (once users have been set up)
- set up bank integration to streamline outgoing payments and bank reconciliation.

3. A solution with standard processes and basic process and work descriptions
Your Business Central solution will, from day one, be based on our best practice process recommendations. In addition, you will have access to a private website containing Basico's generic work descriptions for the following processes:
- Order-to-Cash
- Procure-to-Pay
- Record-to-Report
- Travel & Expense.
That said, we of course take your specific processes into account during the implementation and work with you to document these.
4. A strong focus on governance in your new ERP system
Governance is often overlooked during Business Central implementations. This is a shame, as without it there is a risk that the system will be used incorrectly, and the benefits of that very system will be thrown out with the bathwater.
At the same time, digitalisation and automation introduce a risk of errors and misuse. That is why we have included a range of common best practice governance principles and processes in our starter package.
A few specific examples include:
- Approval of payment data for both master data and payment journals
- Our recommended basic permission sets, focused on protecting the configuration so that only selected users can make changes to the setup
- Approval processes to prevent fraud, e.g. general ledger credit postings to an employee account
- Our own add-on module, which adds extra governance functionality, e.g. the designation of system accounts to protect module integrations from being broken.
5. A scalable solution designed from the outset to roll out across multiple companies
When we set up your ERP solution, we do so using a methodology that makes it straightforward to subsequently roll out the setup to new companies in connection with newly established entities, acquisitions etc.
This is achieved using a master company and a template company. The master company synchronises your setup ‒ such as the chart of accounts ‒ to the individual companies and the template company. The template company can then easily be copied whenever you need an additional company.
Last but not least, it is worth noting that although our starter package can be described as an out-of-the-box solution, you can expect it to always be up to date, based on experience, strong client cases and updates to the various elements.
